TURBOTVILLE - Dr. Thomas D. “Tom” Haas, 52, died Sunday, September 12, 2021 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville with his family by his side.
He was born in Carrington, North Dakota on August 29, 1969 and was the son of the late Ernest “Ernie” and Darlene (Dodds) Haas.
Tom was a graduate of New Rockford High School Class of 1987. After high school, Tom enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country proudly in Europe and then Iraq during Desert Storm as part of the Special Forces from 1987 - 1991. Tom then went on to enroll at Bismarck State College for Criminal Justice from 1992 – 1994. After a change in career choices, he then enrolled at Iowa State University for pre-veterinary studies from 1994 – 1996 then finishing with his DVM degree in 2000. Tom and his family moved to the Susquehanna Valley in 2003 when Tom started his employment with the Animal Emergency Center in Watsontown. He worked for over 15 years and retired in 2020.
He was a member of the Norry Gun Club, Northumberland. Tom was an outdoors man who loved working outside doing projects around the house, riding four wheelers and shooting but most of all, Tom was an avid learner, he never stopped learning about everything he could and had a passion for his job.
Tom is survived by his son; Seth T. Haas of Turbotville, three brothers;, Timothy Haas, Bill Lewis and Jason Lewis, three sisters; Lori Wahltrom ,Shawn Munson and Kristen Siebel, three uncles; Stanley Dodds, Everett Dodds and Jerry Dodds, three aunts; Betty Wetzel, Bonnie Meyer and Ronda Hoffarth. Along with many other aunts and uncles and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Tom was preceded in death by his grandparents, one uncle; Lyle Dodds and one aunt; June Koch
A Honor Guard service for Thomas will be held on Saturday, October 9, 2021 in the Milton Cemetery, Golf Coarse Road, Milton. Honors will be performed by the Milton American Legion Honor Guard. A memorial service for Thomas will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family in North Dakota. Arrangements are being handled by Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton.
