Gaetano Balsamo

MILTON - Gaetano Balsamo, 88, formerly of Staten Island, New York died Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at Evangelical Community Hospital Lewisburg with his family by his side.

He was born in Carini, Italy on November 2, 1932 and was the son of the late Giovanni and Rosa (Conigliaro) Balsamo.

Gaetano married the late Maria (Pistone) and they were married for many years until her death.  Then, on December 17, 1995 Gaetano married the former Antonina (Seminara) and they celebrated 25 years of marriage together last year.

Gaetano was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.  He loved helping others and spending time with his family was very important to him.  He also enjoyed farming, gardening, and using his hands to fix things.

In addition to his wife, Gaetano is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law; Giovanni and Rosalia Balsamo of Staten Island, NY, Pino Balsamo of Italy, Vito and Sasha Balsamo of Brooklyn, NY and Salvatore and Anna Balsamo of Allenwood, one daughter and son-in-law; Maria and Franco Bastone of Italy, 18 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren, one step-daughter Vivian and her husband Joseph Pantano of Milton and 2 step-grandchildren and 3 step-great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and his first wife, Gaetano was preceded in death by two daughters; Rosa Abate and Benedetta Catania, one brother; Vincenzo Balsamo and two sisters; Rosalia Puccio and Angela Balsamo.

A viewing will take place on Sunday, August 1, 2021 from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton.  Graveside services will take place on Monday, August 2, 2021 in St. Charles Resurrection Cemetery, 2015 Wellwood Ave., Farmingdale, NY 11735 at 1:00p.m.
