LITITZ - Helen Mae (Smith) Hess, 80 died Thursday, November 29, 2018 at Maple Farm Nursing Center, Akron.
She was born in Lewisburg on February 13, 1938 and was the daughter of the late Albert and Mildred (Yeager) Smith.
Helen married the late Kenneth G. “Ken” Hess on October 13, 1946 and they celebrated 60 years of marriage together until his death on November 4, 2000.
She was a former member of Friendship Baptist Church, Watsontown. In addition to raising her children, Helen worked at Travis Mills and Shillington Knitting Mills as a knitter. Helen enjoyed bingo, scratch off lottery tickets, dinning out with Ken, camping when her children were younger, fishing, cooking holiday meals, lots of baked goods, her kitty cats and going to visit her sisters, the halfway dam and Pennsylvania Grand Canyon.
Helen is survived by three sons; Benjamin E., Steven M. and Jeffrey S., two daughters; Christine E. and Ann M., 13 grandchildren; Tanya, Daniel, Crystal, Michelle, Gwen, Robert Allen, Jr., Jennifer, James, Adam, Amber, Chas, Brad and Christopher, multiple great grandchildren, and four sisters; Nancy, Shirley, Pat and Marian.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was preceded in death by four sons; Wayne, Paul, Mark and Robert Allen, Sr.
A public viewing will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton followed by the funeral at 2:00 p.m. Burial will take place in McEwinsville Cemetery.
