Isaac Shearer

NEW COLUMBIA - Isaac Eugene “Pete” Shearer, 80, died Thursday, January 28, 2021, at his home.

He was born on April 23, 1940, in Milton, the son of the late Isaac and Sarah (Stevenson) Shearer.  Pete married Nancy A. (Dyer) Shearer on June 30, 1962, and in 2020 they celebrated 58 years of marriage.

Isaac attended Milton Area High School and served eight years in the US Army National Guard.  He was employed at ACF, Milton for 34 years where he retired in 1998.

He was a member of the NRA and lifetime member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles.  Previously, he was a member of the Milton Moose and Milton VFW.  Pete enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, playing cards with family and friends, watching old western shows and sports.

He is survived by two sons, Bruce (Shawna) Shearer of Dillsburg and Steven (Michelle) Shearer of New Columbia; one daughter, Leslie Roush of Mifflinburg; 4 grandchildren Gretchen Shearer of Philadelphia, Christopher (Liz) Hamilton of Sunbury, Dalton and Larissa Shearer of New Columbia; 2 great grandchildren, Noah Snyder and Kat Kazlauskas of Sunbury; one brother, Larry Shearer of Milton; and two sisters, Sara (Ed) Havanas and Mary Guerrero.

In addition to his parents, Isaac was preceded in death by one grandson, Brandon Shearer of Mechanicsburg; one granddaughter, Desirea DeHart of New Columbia; one sister, Nancy Bashore of Milton and his beloved Beagle Bessie Boo.

The family would like to thank Geisinger Home Health and Columbia-Montour Hospice for their wonderful help in honoring Isaac’s wish to stay at home during his departure from this life.

A viewing will be held from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday February 3, 2021 at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N.
