Marylou J. (Mathies) Okkerse, 85 of Lewisburg, died Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Riverwoods, Lewisburg.
She was born on November 1, 1933 in Cleveland, Ohio and was the daughter of the late Elmer F. and Wilhelmina (Meyers) Mathies.
Marylou was a graduate of John Hay High School, Cleveland, Ohio, Class of 1951. Then on July 11, 1952 Marylou married John W. Okkerse, who survives, and they would have celebrated 66 years of marriage together this year.
She was a member of the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, Mifflinburg and enjoyed playing the organ and piano for various churches in the area. Most of all Marylou loved spending time with her family.
In addition to her husband, Marylou is survived by three sons and one daughter-in-law; Douglas J. Okkerse of Liverpool, Dale J. Okkerse, Sr. of West Milton and Duane J. and Paula Okkerse of West Milton, one daughter and son-in-law; Darlene J. and David Swope of Watsontown, nine grandchildren; Lauren, Madison, Isabelle, Theodore, Dale, Jr. and Vivian Okkerse, Vanessa Criswell, Jennifer Cresswell and Jonathan Kroner, seven great grandchildren and one sister; Georgian Devries of West Lake, Ohio.
In addition to her parents, Marylou was preceded in death by two daughters; Debra J. Okkerse and Dawn J. Okkerse and one grandson; Michael Kroner.
All services for Marylou will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Lewisburg Cemetery.
Arrangements are being handled by Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton.
