Ralph Hess, Sr.

NEW COLUMBIA - Ralph T. Hess, Sr., 91 of New Columbia, died Monday, October 8, 2018 at his residence.

He was born on May 18, 1927 in White Deer Twp. and was the son of the late Maurice S. and Erma C. (Lebard) Hess.

Ralph served his country proudly in the United States Army Air Corp. during WWII.

Ralph was married to the late Betty H. (Showers) on December 21, 1947 and they celebrated 55 years of marriage together until her death on September 7, 2003.

He was a member of New Hope Lutheran Church, Lewisburg and enjoyed hunting, fishing and woodworking.

Ralph attended the Milton Area High School and retired as a mechanic from Branch Motor Express.

Ralph is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law; Ralph, Jr. and Jane Hess, Maurice “Lee” and Linda Hess and Terry and Dee Hess all of New Columbia, one daughter; Patricia Hedding of New Columbia, six grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one great great grandson and one brother; John Hess of New Columbia along with numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, Ralph was preceded in death by nine brothers and one sister.

A gathering of friends and family will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton followed by the funeral at 11:00 with Pastor Dave McCarty officiating.  Burial will follow in Harmony Cemetery Milton with full military honors.
