Robert Hartley

NEW COLUMBIA - Robert T. Hartley, 82, died Friday, May 8, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

He was born in Swangel on April 2, 1938 and was the son of the late Robert J. and Rhoda E. (Catherman) Hartley.

Robert married the late Edith M. (Gray) on November 9, 1957 and they were married for 50 years until her death on February 8, 2007.

He was a graduate of Middleburg High School Class of 1956 and went on to earn a certificate in diesel mechanics in Chicago.  Robert was a member of the Watsontown Masons Lodge #401 and enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing for salmon and just being outdoors.

Robert is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law; James W. and Charlene Hartley of Turbotville and Theodore “Ted” A. and Diane Hartley of New Columbia, one daughter and her companion; Dawn M. and Michael Zettlemoyer of Milton, nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and one sister; Betty Schreffler of Northumberland along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

In addition to his parents and wife, Robert was preceded in death by one daughter; Minerva Carr and four brothers; Dave, John, Thomas and Glenn Hartley.

A private viewing for Robert T. Hartley,82, of New Columbia, who died on Friday, May 8, 2020 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville will be held from 6:00-7:00 p.m., Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at Friendship Baptist Church, Watsontown followed by the private funeral service at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor Jason King officiating.
