MIDDLEBURG - Samuel Luther Simpson, 83, died Monday, January 20, 2025 at Milton Nursing and Rehab Center after a long courageous battle with Lewy Body Dementia.
He was born on November 10, 1941 in Sunbury and was the son of the late George and Mary (Bartholomew) Simpson.
Sam served his country in the National Guard and was a brother of Lafayette Masonic Lodge #194, Selinsgrove.
In his healthier years, Sam enjoyed his favorite fishing spot, being outdoors, hunting and long walks and drives through the country. He also enjoyed his Coca Cola, cinnamon bears and Arby’s roast beef sandwiches. Sam was a machinist for over 50 years at various businesses in the area and Belgrade, MT. He loved to work with his hands fixing things. After retirement, Sam remained active working as a crossing guard for the Belgrade, MT school district.
He was deeply spiritual and enjoyed church, reading scripture and hymns, something he took great comfort in during his final hours.
Sam is survived by one son and daughter-in-law; Samuel L. and Jennifer Simpson of Middleburg, one daughter and son-in-law; Brooke and Shane Scrivner of Belgrade, MT, five grandchildren, three great grandchildren and one sister-in-law; Audra of Northumberland.
In addition to his parents, Sam was preceded in death by two brothers; George and William Simpson, four sisters; Mary Poff, Charlotte Riland, Stella Mae Wagner and Rose Richard and one half brother; John Cope.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lafayette Masonic Lodge #194, P.O. Box 2, Selinsgrove, PA 17870.
A private memorial service will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Dale Ranck Cremation & Funeral Care, 125 N. Front Street, Milton.
